Escape Artist

It's no wonder Grace is turning into an escape artist. Who wants to be cooped up doing things like napping and getting dressed for the day when there's so much fun to be had with the grandparents?

We started our day with a quick visit to church. While Lola was praying, I had to take Grace around to look at all the statues of Jesus. She was being too noisy in the prayer room for anyone to meditate and pray.

When we came to our first statue of Jesus, she recognized him instantly and said, "That's Jesus! He's the one that makes me feel all better!"

Then she asked, "Why does Jesus have boo-boo's on his feet?" and solved the problem with, "I put Hello Kitty band-aids on it and make it feel all better!"

After church, it was off to Chick-fil-a for some breakfast and play time. I enjoyed reading a newspaper from cover to cover while Lola had play area duty. Then we stopped by Target before heading home for a nap. While we were there, Grace kept asking if we could go to Virginia Beach. I kept telling her we WERE in Virginia Beach to which she finally responded in an exasperated tone, "No, Mama, we're at Target!"

Once she was up from her nap, we went to visit Grandma at work where Grace scored a new dress and a couple of new play outfits, not to mention a beautiful pearl bracelet from Auntie Jeannette, one of Grandma's sweet co-workers. The child can't visit Grandma at work without coming home with something.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out with Lola and Lolo. She played dress up with Lolo's old hats and devoured Lolo's special noodle dish. By the end of the night Grace was so tired that the girl who normally refuses to go to bed was asking to go upstairs to her room and be read a bedtime story. Of course, the story had to be read by none other than Lola. Mama gets kicked to the curb whenever there is a grandmother around.

Making a run for it while I was trying to get her dressed for the day. She knocked over the gate, crawled underneath it, and was calling for Lola to come get her.

I can't even imagine how nice it was to actually read a whole newspaper!

Aren't grandparents just the BEST? So glad y'all are getting this time. Enjoy. I'm finding that once kids get involved in activities, it gets a little more complicated to make these kinds of visits. So glad, like you, I did it when I could!
