Story Time

Since I'm now a proud owner of a Jacksonville City Public Library card, I decided to take Grace to the toddler musical story time at the library this morning. It's been a long while since I've been in a room full of toddlers, but it was complete mayhem. It probably didn't help that the lady who normally does the story time was on vacation so the sweet lady who was in charge today was just a sub. There was some crying, a couple of escapees who tried to flee the room, and lots of directions NOT followed. Toddlers are notorious for not listening anyway, but try giving them cool musical instruments and then asking them to give it back again. Hilarious!

I had the best time watching the controlled chaos and Grace was surprisingly shy. I would've thought she'd join in on all the ruckus, but she clung to me and just watched wide eyed. Maybe she'll warm up to it next week. Even though she didn't run around like the rest of the kids, it must have been pretty stimulating for her because she took a two and a half hour nap when we got home. If that's what it takes to get this girl to nap for more than an hour, we're going to be regulars at toddler musical story time.

Smelling the flowers.

I love that picture of her smelling the flowers, but I think she looks more like a little girl than a toddler. Sigh.
