Mama? Morning!

Grace used to always wake up in the morning crying. She is my alarm clock and it was such a rude awakening to greet the day with a bawling baby. So when I started her on this bedtime routine (that has been such a sanity saver!), I made a point to be super cheerful when I walk into her room in the morning in the hopes that she'll associate the start of the day with something positive.

I sweep into the room while singing 'Good mooooorning, Graaaaace!' Then I rush over to her crib, gather her into a big bear hug and kiss her sweet face as many times as she'll let me before she bursts into giggles. I open the curtains and blinds, do a diaper change, and ask her what she wants for breakfast. The answer is always the same- pancakes, eggs, and banana.

I guess my theatrics are slowly working because this morning, I didn't hear any crying. Not even a little whimper. I woke up to babbling. Happy babbling. Then when she was tired of talking to herself, I heard this, "Mama? Mooooorning!" I guess that was my hint to get on in there and do my morning show.

And this is what I found when I opened the door- legs swinging back and forth and saying "Moooorning!" over and over again.

I wish I had thought to move her hair out of her face before I took the picture because I know her Uncle Carl may think that she kinda looks like that girl from 'The Ring'. But I was so worried of just getting the shot before the moment passed. Trust me though, Carl, it was the sweetest little sight, despite all the hair in the face.

With such a pleasant start to our day, there was no way it could turn out anything less than great. We had an awesome day, but Grace still ran me ragged. I need more energy to keep up with the little whirlwind! By the time I put her down for the night, I'm ready to crawl into bed myself!
